BONVIE Expenses – Privacy Policy

BONVIE Expenses is a standalone expense and invoice management application designed to keep your records on your Android device. This Privacy Policy explains how the standalone mobile application handles information.

1. Information stored on your device

BONVIE Expenses stores your expense records, invoices, VAT information, business details, documents and related records locally on your device so that the application can provide its features.

The standalone mobile application does not use a BONVIE-hosted database, Postgres, S3 or a remote authentication service for your books.

2. Local sign-up and sign-in

The application provides a local sign-up and sign-in function. This is a device-local access feature and is not an online BONVIE account.

Your email address is stored locally on the device. Your password is not stored in plain text. The application uses PBKDF2-SHA-256 with a randomly generated salt and stored iteration count to verify the password locally.

Your sign-up and sign-in information is not transmitted to BONVIE or to a remote authentication server.

3. Expenses, invoices and VAT information

Information you enter into the application, including expenses, invoices, VAT amounts and related business records, is stored locally on your device for the application's functionality.

BONVIE does not receive these locally stored records through the standalone application.

4. Camera and document capture

The application may request camera access so you can capture receipts, invoices or other documents. Camera access is used for this functionality, and captured information is stored locally by the standalone application unless you choose to share or export it using another service or application.

5. Advertising

BONVIE Expenses uses Google AdMob to display advertising.

Google and its advertising technologies may collect and process information such as advertising identifiers, device information, approximate location, diagnostics and interactions with advertisements, subject to Google's policies, applicable law and your consent choices where required.

BONVIE does not use AdMob to transmit your locally stored expense, invoice or bookkeeping records to BONVIE.

6. Data sharing

BONVIE does not sell your locally stored expense, invoice or bookkeeping records.

The standalone application does not transmit your local sign-in credentials or locally stored bookkeeping records to a BONVIE server.

Third-party advertising services may process device and advertising-related information as necessary to provide advertising, measurement and related security functions.

7. Data security

BONVIE takes reasonable measures to protect information handled by the application. Local passwords are not stored in plain text and are verified using PBKDF2-SHA-256 with a unique randomly generated salt.

Because your records are stored on your device, you should also use your device's security features, including a secure screen lock.

8. Data retention and deletion

Your BONVIE Expenses records remain on your device until you delete them through the application, clear the application's data or uninstall the application.

The application's local delete function removes the local account information and associated locally stored application data.

The standalone application does not maintain a remote account or remote expense database for your records.

For users who cannot access the app, deletion assistance can be requested through the BONVIE Expenses Data Deletion page or by emailing info@bonvie.co.za.

9. Children's privacy

BONVIE Expenses is not specifically directed at children. It is intended for general personal and business expense and invoice management.

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy

BONVIE may update this Privacy Policy when the application, its data practices or applicable requirements change. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are made.
